Bräucker R (1995) Hypergravity research in ciliates: achievements and shortcomings of the latest NIZEMI version.

Abstract

The Niedergeschwindigkeits-Zentrifugenmikroskop (NIZEMI) is a useful tool for hypergravity experiments. Recently the NIZEMI has been reconstructed. The modifications include computer control of several functions, a new swing device and a spintable on the macro-side, thermostatisation and an improved optical equipment. Benefits and problems of the recent NIZEMI version are discussed under the light of behavioural experiments with ciliates.
